VISITOR REGULATIONS
GDAŃSK ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

§1. General provisions

  1. These regulations set out the rules for visiting, staying on and moving around the premises of Gdańsk Archaeological Museum (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Museum’) and apply to all branches of the Museum:

  1. While on the Museum’s premises, visitors are obliged to abide by its regulations and exercise due diligence in order to ensure their own health and safety and that of others, as well as to protect the collections and cultural heritage assets owned by the Museum.
  2. The Museum is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday, except for public holidays. The Museum reserves the right to close on days immediately before or after public holidays, as determined by the Museum Director.
  3. Detailed information about the opening hours of the Museum is available at www.archeologia.pl and at the Museum’s ticket offices
  4. The number of visitors permitted inside the Museum, in our main and temporary exhibitions, is limited. For group visits, the size of the group is regulated by Museum staff depending on the total number of visitors.
  5. Being on Museum premises outside opening hours requires the consent of the Museum Director. In special cases, the Museum Director may grant access to exhibitions for out-of-hours visits.
  6. For reasons of safety, ongoing construction and conservation work, or in other special circumstances, visitor access to the Museum’s buildings and exhibitions may be restricted or entirely closed at the discretion of the Museum Director.
  7. The Museum premises are protected and monitored using a closed circuit television system. By purchasing a ticket, visitors consent to having their image recorded on CCTV.

§2. Ticket sales

  1. A fee is payable for admission to the Museum’s exhibitions and participation in some of our organised events.
  2. A full list of charges can be found on the Museum’s website and at our ticket offices.
  3. The Museum also organises free events. Please check our website for further information.
  4. The Museum’s ticket offices accept payment in Polish zlotys and by card – information on the types of cards accepted is available at our ticket offices.
  5. Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for tickets of a different value or for different events.
  6. Invoices will be issued in accordance with regulations applicable to individuals, institutions and businesses who have booked a visit or paid the Museum admission fee at the ticket office.

§3. Concessions and free admission

  1. Concessions and free admission are available upon presentation of relevant documents.
  2. Concessions are available to:
  1. students of primary, lower and upper secondary schools, students of teacher training establishments and social service employees, students and people undergoing doctoral studies who are citizens of the European Union Member States,
  2. visitors aged over 65, pensioners and people with disabilities (+ accompanying carer) who are citizens of European Union member states;
  3. teachers of primary, lower secondary, upper secondary and higher schools, teachers and tutors of educational and upbringing institutions, correctional facilities, shelters for minors and diagnostic and consultation centers operating in the Member States of the European Union,
  4. veterans.
  1. Free tickets are available to:
  1. children up to seven years old,
  2. licensed guides, tour guides and teachers as guardians of organized groups,
  3. persons awarded the Order of the White Eagle or the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland, the honorary badge "Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej" and persons awarded the honorary title "Zasłużony dla Kultury Narodowej",
  4. employees of museums entered in the State Register of Monuments and members of the Association of Polish Museologists, the International Council of Museums (ICOM), the International Council for the Protection of Monuments (ICOMOS),
  5. members of the Association of Polish Archaeologists, the Polish Historical Society, the Association of Art Historians,
  6. archaeologists, historians and art historians - employees of state universities and the Polish Academy of Sciences.
  7. The Museum participates in special discount schemes, full details of which can be found on our website

§4. Rules for visiting the Museum

  1. Before entering our exhibition rooms, outer garments, umbrellas, hiking poles, prams, metal-framed baby carriers, large bags, rucksacks, suitcases, carrier bags and any other items that can endanger exhibits and get in the way of other visitors must be left in the cloakroom. Museum staff may ask visitors to leave their belongings in the cloakroom in order to ensure the safety of the exhibitions.
  2. The Museum is not responsible for items left unsecured inside clothing, rucksacks and bags left in the cloakroom, nor for items left anywhere on the Museum premises other than in designated storage areas.
  3. Food, drinks, alcohol and intoxicants may not be taken into or consumed in exhibition spaces.

  4. Exhibits must not be touched.
  5. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or intoxicants, behaving in a way that endangers the safety of people and property or causing a disturbance will not be allowed to visit the Museum.
  6. Animals, other than guide dogs accompanying a person with a disability, are not allowed inside the Museum.
  7. Visitors must abide by safety rules and act in keeping with generally accepted standards of good behaviour in public places.
  8. In the event of a safety emergency, visitors must strictly follow the instructions of Museum staff and security officers.
  9. Smoking (including the use of electronic cigarettes) is forbidden throughout the Museum.
  10. Guardians are liable for any damages caused by children under their care.

§5. Final provisions

  1. By purchasing a ticket to the Museum the visitor agrees to abide by these Regulations.
  2. Visitors who fail to comply with these Regulations will be asked to leave the Museum’s premises and will not be entitled to assert any claims.
  3. The Museum reserves the right to amend these Regulations. The amended Regulations will be published on the Museum’s website www.archeologia.pl and displayed at its ticket offices.
